By design, CrossFit is a high intensity, workout varied, functional movement sport that has a sole goal of improving the fitness level of the athlete. There isn’t another sport out there that encompasses such lofty tests of fitness.
As you may know, the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games season always starts with the worldwide Open- and get ready ladies and gentlemen- the Open is about to arrive.
15.1 kicks off February 26 through March 2, and this is a workout you won’t want to miss. As Dave Castro announces the workout on the Live Open Announcement show, Rich Froning and Mat Fraser will be by his side, ready to throw down and show the world how the first WOD is really done. Is there a better way to kick off the 2015 season than with the two reigning fittest men on earth going head to head? The remainder of The Open Schedule is as follows:
15.2: March 5-9. Letendre vs. Bridgers (Austin, TX)
15.3: March 12-16. Foucher vs. Brooks (Chicago, IL)
15.4: March 19-23 Bridges vs. Panchik (Portland, OR)
15.5: March 26-30 Leblanc-Bazinet vs. Briggs vs. Thorisdottir (Las Vegas, NV)
The Open has never failed to spark the CrossFit community with the excitement of knowing the world’s fittest athletes, no matter past accolades and finishes, will be competing head to head on an even playing ground. Newcomers to the sport will be competing with reigning, and past, Fittest In The World title holders, providing all participants the opportunity to prove their skill and ability, aiming to qualify to Regionals.
This first stepping stone of the season signifies the unified CrossFit community around the world, all competing for a common goal: to prove themselves the fittest on earth. For some, it represents new opportunity, to showcase the tiresome hours they devote day in and day out, leading up to this moment. For others, it’s the idea that you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
