Sara Urban Prepares To Defend Rush Club Title Against Nobis-Dancer

In only a matter of days, Sara Urban will go head to head with Jennifer Nobis-Dancer at Celebrity Theater at Rush Club 005 to defend her Female Heavyweight title. Urban competed at the inaugural Rush Club throwdown in 2014 where she claimed the crown, and has maintained it since.

Challenger Jennifer Nobis-Dancer is the owner of Q Town CrossFit in Quincy, Illinois, and is no stranger to the competition floor. Her team, CrossFit Conjugate, took second at the CrossFit Games in 2014, and she recently competed at 2015 Regionals as an individual, placing 29th overall. See her Rush Club 005 preparation HERE

Sara gave us insight into her experience winning the RC001 heavyweight title, as well as training for Rush Club 005:

What was it like competing in the inaugural Rush Club event?

I was completely taken back when I got the phone call from AJ, I wasn't expected it at all. It was such a honor and I am very grateful for the opportunity.

Fans were sitting 5 feet away from where you were competing, what was it like having the audience so close? Did it amp up the atmosphere?

Yea, that was crazy! I've never competed that close to the spectators, it was an experience for sure! It definitely amp'd up the atmosphere, the spectators were so close that you could hear the cheers. It was pretty cool!

What was the workout? How did it go?

Don't quote me on it but I believe it was a 5 min time CAP, complete 5 Rounds of 3 Snatch 115#, 5 OTB Burpees, and 7 Pull-Ups and in the remaining time left complete as many C&J at 155# as possible. Your score was the C&J. I think it went pretty well :0)

Do you think the movements involved played to your strengths?

I do! I was able to cycle a moderate barbell and had low rep BW movements.

Describe your experience being crowned Champion? Does it feel a little like you’ve made history in Rush Club?

It was an awesome experience! I've been competing for awhile now and I've been blessed with the opportunity to be on the Regionals floor on a team, as well as individual, and I always tell people that Rush Club was one of the funnest/coolest experiences of my competitive career.

I'd like to think so! No matter what happens I'll always be the first female Heavyweight Champ.

At RC005, you’ll be competing against Jennifer Dancer. Are there any nerves knowing you’ll be going head to head with a Games’ athlete?

I don't know Jenn personally, but I've always admired her as an athlete and her accomplishments. Of course I have nerves going into the competition but they would be there no matter the person I was up against. I think knowing her accomplishments just motivates me!

Your workout includes a variety of movements, from handstand pushups to snatches. What do you think of the programming? Do the movements play to your strengths or weaknesses?

I'm actually pretty excited about the workout! I haven't had much experience with a 100# D-ball, we just don't have too many of those laying around our gym. With that being said I think the workout plays well to both, an object I'm not super familiar with but it's heavy and I like heavy!

How have you been preparing for Rush Club 005?

I have, to the best of my abilities!

Are you going to defend your Rush Club title?

Yes.

You'll be able to watch these ladies throwdown August 15th, LIVE on FloElite.
