ICYMI: Ilya Snatches 195, Lu Snatches 180
ICYMI: Ilya Snatches 195, Lu Snatches 180

Remember when Ilya started getting back into the swing of things and crushing heavy weights? I do, because that was like a week ago and I figured it'd be at least a couple months before we saw some gnarly lifts out of Ilya. How wrong I was.

Yea, that's Ilya snatching 195kg/429lbs. Yes that's 5kg more than what he snatched at the World Championships in 2014. And yes, we're still about a year away from Rio.
Speaking of snatching, I hope y'all remember Lu Xiaojun. Ya know, the guy who just broke his own 77kg snatch record with this 180kg/396lb snatch:

The fascinating thing here is that while both Ilya and Lu are from very different schools of training, they both max out weekly as a way of adjusting and controlling their future programming. Figuring out what training methodology is "right" is very difficult to do when so many are successful, so for normal people like you and me, our best bet is to stick with the concepts that are common between all these different schools.
I'm pretty excited to see what these guys do in Rio.
