The IWF has just released 17 new positive test results from the 2015 IWF World Championships, and the list includes some big names. Here's the list of new positive disclosures:
- Olga Zubova (W75kg, RUS)
- Tested positive for anabolic steroid methenolone. She finished with gold in the clean & jerk and bronze overall at Worlds.
- Aleksei Kosov (M94kg, RUS)
- Tested positive for oral steroid Turinabol. He finished 7th overall with gold in the snatch.
- Olga Afanaseva (W69kg, RUS)
- Tested positive for oral steroid Turinabol. She finished 4th overall.
- Aleksey Lovchev (M105kg+, RUS)
- Tested positive for peptide hormone Ipamorelin. He finished with gold in the snatch, clean & jerk, and total and set new clean & jerk and total World Records.
- Kim Kwang Song (M77kg, PRK)
- Like his teammate Kim Un Guk, he tested positive for Letrozole. He finished second in the snatch and second in the total.
- Ryo Un Hui (W69kg, PRK)
- Also tested positive for Letrozole. She finished 2nd in the snatch and 5th overall.
- Pipa Artiom (M77kg, MDA)
- Tested positive for Turinabol. He finished 13th overall.
- Bulat Iurie (M85kg, MDA)
- Also tested positive for Turinabol. He finished 13th overall.
- Omitray Yermek (M85kg, KAZ)
- Also tested positive for Turinabol. He did not total but finished 8th in the snatch.
- Kydyrbayev Zhassulan (M94kg, KAZ)
- Also tested positive for Turinabol. He finished 3rd in the snatch, 3rd in the clean & jerk, and 3rd overall.
- Uteshov Almas (M94kg, KAZ)
- Also tested positive for Turinabol. He finished 2nd in the clean & jerk and 2nd overall.
- Ananiadou Eftychia (W75kg+, GRE)
- Also tested positive for Turinabol. She finished 20th overall.
- Venskel Aleksandr (M94kg, BLR)
- Also tested positive for Turinabol. He finished 4th overall.
- Novikava Nastassia (W58kg, BLR)
- Also tested positive for Turinabol. She finished 4th overall.
- Guliyev Firudin (M69kg, AZE)
- Tested positive for Nandrolone. He finished 2nd in the clean & jerk and 6th overall.
- Zairov Intiqam (M94kg, AZE)
- Tested positive for Nandrolone and Turinabol. He finished 9th overall.
- Dadashbayli Dadash (M105kg, AZE)
- Tested positive for Nandrolone and boldenone. He finished 9th overall.
The biggest news here is that Aleksey Lovchev, who shocked everyone and smashed the World Record in the clean & jerk and total as a super, has tested positive. It remains to be seen what the fallout from this will be, but there will certainly be a lot of changes to the overall rankings.
