Top Three Men's Regional Performances
Now that the 2016 CrossFit Games Regionals are over, we know who the Games athletes are, how they compare to one another, and have an idea of who to watch in July.

But before we get too ahead of ourselves, let’s take a look back at some of the outstanding displays of talent from this year’s Regionals.

Here are the top three men’s performances:

Mat Fraser destroys the Couple Couplets

He begins 2:37:22

Only Kara Webb came close to the level of dominance Mat Fraser showed this year at Regionals, and they were also the only two athletes who finished first in Events 3 and 4.

Fraser already won both events on Day 1, and was pretty much locked in after that, but he came to Regionals with something to prove. Even though everyone is talking about how pissed and focused he looked, it’s not like Fraser is training like Rocky in Siberia.

The man is definitely quieter on social media than other CrossFit competitors, but he knows how to have fun and when it’s time to unleash the beast.

Brent “The Professor” Fikowski dominates The Chipper

His heat begins at 2:42:42

Fikowski missed the 2014 and 2015 Games by a total of three points, so he wasn’t about to let that happen again. At this year’s Regionals, Fikowski showed up ready to crush, and crush he did.

His performance during Event 6 was a great example of what makes Fikowski so impressive. He controls his pace like he’s won the Games a handful of times, slowly creeping up on everyone else on the field through smart and conscious movement.

If you’re looking for another example of what makes Fikowski different, consider the other competitors who collapsed onto the finish mat while Fikowski strolled over his bar and onto the mat. The man is heading to Carson on a mission.

Spencer Hendel goes clutch again

His heat begins at 1:30:56

Spencer Hendel is probably the most clutch CrossFit Games qualifier in history. He began to earn that reputation in 2009 when he qualified through the Last Chance Online Qualifier (along with another unknown at the time by the name of Tommy Hackenbruck).

When the chips are down and Hendel needs to show up big, don’t ever count him out. To qualify for the 2016 Games, Hendel had to win Event 7 and have a handful of men finish between him and Chase Smith, who held the fifth spot going into Event 7.

He made his money on the first set of rope climbs, where he came out of nowhere to finish the round first. From that point, he kept his foot on the gas and never let up. Considering the same thing happened to him last year and he placed fifth at the Games, I expect him to do well again at the big show.
