Athlete Dinner Event Announcements
Competitors gathered for the much anticipated Athlete Dinner. Dave Castro started the evening with the statement, "2016 is special because we are celebrating 10 years. This will be the most physically and mentally challenging CrossFit Games ever."

The first event details he shared were that of the swim. "A swim and nothing else." He said. "No paddle board, no kettlebell thrusters…it's going to be a pure swim." Athletes will swim in the ocean 500m for time. They will do so without the use of fins; only their mask, swim cap, and swim suit. All 80 athletes (40 men and 40 women) will go in one heat. "There are not any other secrets or surprises attached to that event, that event is as it is." Dave said.

The second event details he shared were that of a familiar workout. Athletes will complete a squat clean ladder playing off what they saw at Regionals. 10-8-6-4-2 reps in two minute increments. The weights will be 245/165, 265/180, 285/195, 305/205, 325/215.

The final details he gave were that of Murph. "You're doing Murph like you did last year, except not at all like you did last year." Dave said. Athletes will do Murph, but with different reps. Instead of 100, 200, and 300 they will do five rounds of 20, 40, and 60 (20 pull ups, 40 push ups, 60 air squats). With the mile on each end and with the same vest as last year.

"This is a partial glimpse at what you're going to see over the course until Sunday." Dave said.
