The top of the leaderboard will not shuffle going into the final event of the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games. A fourth place finish in the Rope Chipper for Katrin Davidsdottir keeps her spot on the top, with Tia-Clair Toomey sitting 23 points behind in second. Sara Sigmundsdottir remains in third, and Sam Briggs in fourth (45 points behind Sigmundsdottir).
Meg Reardon took the first heat. Once she got through the double unders no one could keep up with her. In the second heat, Jamie Hagiya also figured out the double unders and took the lead, and eventually the win, for her heat. Emily Abbott caught up to Hagiya, but it was in the sled pulls that Hagiya came out on top. Abbott was using fewer, longer pulls. Hagiya was using shorter, choppier pulls that kept the sled moving at all times.
In the third heat, it came down to a race between Chyna Cho and Anna Tunnicliffe. They both took down the time to beat set by Hagiya in the previous heat, but it was Tunnicliffe who took the heat, and event, win. Cho took second in the event overall.
The final heat remained close between the Australians and the Icelandics. Kara Webb and Tia-Clair Toomey got back to double unders first, and then opened up a lead on the SkiErg. When they got to the sled pulls, Katrin Davidsdottir and Sara Sigmundsdottir threatened. Webb's strong pulls gave her a heat win, Davidsdottir finishing right behind her. "If I want it I need it to chase it down." Webb said about her heat win. They finished third and fourth in the event overall respectively. Toomey struggled with the sled pulls and finished seventh in the event.
Sam Briggs would need a strong performance if she wanted to see the podium for her final individual appearance at the CrossFit Games. She ended up finishing sixth in the event, and still sits in fourth place overall on the leaderboard.
Davidsdottir hardly looked phased after the event, while the rest of the athletes hunched over the ice bucket and dumped water on themselves anyway they could. "That woman can get into that pain cave and stay there more than any woman I've seen." the announcer said about Davidsdottir.
