The 2016 European Junior and U23 Championships are underway in Eliat, Israel, featuring some of the best weightlifters in the world such as 2015 world champion Artem Okulov (RUS, 85) and Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Lasha Talakhadze (GEO, 105+).

While the big boys and girls haven't competed yet, we've seen some impressive lifts ahead of Saturday's finale. Here are some of the highlights and links to the results:

Italy's Mirco Scarantino (56) takes gold with a 151kg/332lb clean and jerk

Scarantino took 7th at the Rio Olympic Games and has now won seven European championships.

Rebeka Koha (LAT, W58) wins gold with a 94kg/207lb snatch and a 110kg/242lb clean and jerk

This is Koha's first international gold medal as a 58. She came very close to a medal in Rio, finishing fourth overall in the women's 53kg division.
