IWF Announces 2017 Lifters Of The Year
Lydia Valentin and Lasha Talakhadze have been voted 2017 IWF Lifters of the Year.
The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has named Spain's Lydia Valentin and Georgia's Lasha Talakhadze as female and male lifters of the year.
Voting for the titles was opened to the public from January 5 to January 31. On the women's side, Lydia Valentin won with over 16,400 ballots cast in her favor. The men's race was a little tighter with Talakhadze pulling in more than 9,800 votes; in second place, Egypt's Ihab Mahmoud gathered nearly 8,500 votes.
