Another Easy Day On The Track For Michigan Men
There's a lot fitness athletes can learn from runners. Just look at how important Chris Hinshaw has become in training some of the biggest athletes at the CrossFit Games. Here we're taking a look at a track workout from earlier this year with the men from Michigan Cross Country. Here's the workout:
2 mile tempo - 9:36
rest 5 minutes
4x800m - 2:12, 2:13, 2:08, 2:02
rest 5 minutes
1 mile tempo - 4:53
The keys here aren't the Cross Country specific rankings and competition, but what we can learn from their training and approach to game day. Their coach mentions that when they have easy workouts leading into events, their runners tend to feel "flat" so they push a little in workouts leading into competitions in order to give their runners some focus. Training with short and quick intervals and pushing the intensity leading into gameday; these are lessons that can carry over to CrossFit and Strongman too.
