Gear Geek: PowerDot
The PowerDot is a an electrical muscle stimulator that’s small, mobile, and pairs up with your phone to provide 8 different programs including strength training, warm up, and active recovery.
The whole unit is packaged pretty nicely in a convenient travel case containing the PowerDot pods (one if you order the uno, two if you order the duo), lead cables, micro USB charging cables, and four months worth of electrode pads.
One of the coolest things about the PowerDot is the app. The pods connect to your phone via bluetooth and you control the unit from there. When you boot up the app, you pick which type of program you’re looking for then choose which part of your body you want to work on. The app then provides you with photo examples of where to apply the electrode pads and when it’s all hooked up and the pods are connected, the app gets ready to kick off.
From the app you can control the amount of stimulus being delivered and keep track of how long your workout is as well as how long you have left in that program.
Overall, the PowerDot is convenient, mobile, and easy to use. I didn’t have any issues connecting the pods to my phone or controlling them through the app and the instructions in the app are pretty fool proof.
