Position USA Redfords Weightlifting Shoe Review
The Position USA Redfords are a classic shoe hand-built with old school style, materials, and attitude.
Fit and Feel
The Redfords fit well, feeling a bit more like an athletic shoe around the foot than a big heavy boot like some other weightlifting shoes. They're true to size, comfortable, and even though they look a bit like goofy bowling shoes, they feel really nice on the foot.
With a Vibram sole, the one-inch hand shaped wooden heel is grippy and stable and provides excellent heel lift for those of us who are lacking ankle mobility.
I really like the materials, the small imperfections, and the general weight and feel of the shoe. They feel hand-crafted, significant, and sturdy, which is sometimes missing from the more mass produced, synthetic lifting shoes we see from other companies.
Performance
The Redfords are really great weightlifting shoes. The wide single strap provides a ton of support while the extra tall one-inch heel makes the bottom of the squat that much easier to find compared to the three-quarter-inch heels on most of the current crop of weightlifting shoes.
I felt like I had a strong, stable base for my lifts, and I especially enjoyed that feeling during my jerks, when I sometimes worry my back toe may slip.
Conclusion
Overall, Position USA crafts a uniquely great weightlifting shoe. They're hand-made with classy and upscale materials like suede and wood, they're really good as weightlifting shoes, and they're cheaper than the Reebok Legacy Lifters, the Nike Romaleos 3, and the Nobull Lifters.
