Brian Reisenauer's First International Competition Didn't Go As Planned
Before the 2017 IWF World Championships, Brian Reisenauer's only time on an international squad was as an alternate for the U.S.'s 2017 Senior Pan Am team.
The 29-year-old former wrestler has been a weightlifter for three years and made his international debut on one of the biggest stages in the sport. While it definitely didn't go as planned, Reisenauer knows there are lessons to be learned and areas to improve.

Reisenauer went two for six, missing his first two snatches and his last two clean and jerks. The snatch session for the men's 56kg A was a bit of a bloodbath, with only a 41 percent success rate, so it seems something was in the air and affected plenty of other lifters.
Reisenauer finished in ninth place overall, ahead of three athletes who bombed out and behind the other athletes who totaled. That doesn't phase him though. Reisenauer's mentality is his strongest attribute and he has identified plenty of things, big and small, to improve in coming years.
