Coming into Day 2, the Women’s side of the West Regional was a tight race all the way from first to thirteenth place with less than 40 points separating the field.

Defending West Regional Champion, Emily Abbott did what she had to do to climb her way back into a qualifying spot by taking first in Event 3 and tenth in Event 4 leaving her in second place going into the Final workout of the day.

Carleen Mathews continued to perform well today taking an eighth and second place finish in the first couplet of the day. Mathews is now at the top of the leaderboard ahead of Abbot by twelve points.

Games veteran Margaux Alvarez needed a good showing today to pull herself up from a 7th place finish after Day 1. She looked poised to do just that with a dominant 3rd place on Event 4 but a disappointing 25th place finish on the power clean, pistol couplet has dropped her to 8th place overall which is 5 points out of a qualifying spot.
