It was an extremely tight race between Margeaux Alvarez and Carleen Mathews in Event 5. Mathews took the early lead but Margaux chipped away at it until she finally pulled ahead on the final round of running. It was obvious by Margeaux’s demeanor during the event that she knew this was her workout to win and she did just that. Mathews didn’t fall very far behind, finishing the event in 3rd place. Surprisingly, the 2nd place finish in Event 5 today came from 38 year old Joey Kimdon. Kimdon absolutely stunned today with a 1st place finish in Event 4 and 2nd in Event 5! Her performance has pulled her into 9th place overall 31 points out of a qualifying spot. Tia Wright dropped into 5th place after Event 5 with a 19th place finish, her lowest of the weekend so far.  As we’ve seen in the previous Regional competitions thus far, the race is far from over. While it is anticipated that Mathews and Abbot will continue to pull away, the rest of the field will battle it out until the end.
