Heading into Events 7 and 8, Boise CrossFit Rainbow had taken no lower than third in any event. The momentum kept going through the next two events. In Event 7, Boise lead in the beginning, but CrossFit Fort Vancouver set the new time to beat in the West: 6:52. Boise CrossFit Rainbow finished in second with a time of 7:00. It’s worth noting that the event record set by Diablo CrossFit Anejo out of the California Regional is 6:41, so while CrossFit Fort Vancouver’s performance wasn’t an event record, it was impressive nonetheless.
While on the topic of event records, Boise CrossFit Rainbow set the new event record for Event 8. From the beginning, they were out front as the first team to get athletes to the toes-to-bar. They kept cruising through the handstand walks all the way to the finish mat to lock in the win. Event 8 became their third event win over the weekend in a new event record of 12:27. Despite the blood coming from one of their teammate’s heads as a result of a hit in the head by the bar, Boise CrossFit Rainbow has undeniably ran away with the 2016 Regional events this weekend.
Spokane Valley needed a strong performance in the events to solidify their fifth-place position, but they finished Event 7 in 15th place. While their third-place finish in Event 8 was notable, they were bumped out of fifth going into the final event of the weekend.
