While you may have been sleeping, the final day of Regionals in the Pacific came to a close and a mix of Games veterans and rookies punched their tickets to Carson.

It was a consistent trade-off for 1st and 2nd place throughout events between Kara Webb and Tia-Clair Toomey. Kara took 1st in Events 3 and 4, while Tia-Clair took 1st in Event 5. Both have nearly locked in their tickets to Carson.

Everyone saw Rich Froning set the bar when he took a spin at the first individual event of the 2016 Regionals. However, in the Pacific, Kara Webb managed to beat that time by about 40 seconds. Froning completed the 30 snatches in roughly 6:10. Kara’s official time was 5:29.82. The next closest time was Bailey Rogers with 8:10.66, and on the men’s side Brandon Swan with 7:36.71. Kara continued to take 3rd in the second event, finishing in 1st overall after day 1.

Every sport has underdogs, and CrossFit is no different. Maybe they're looking for redemption, maybe they're finally on the cusp of making it, but no matter what these athletes are in it to win it whether people believe in them or not.
